The Beginning
Dictate began as an ambitious hackathon project, born from the simple observation that speaking is often faster and more natural than typing. What started as a weekend experiment quickly captured the imagination of developers who saw the potential to transform how we interact with productivity software.
The initial prototype was rough around the edges, but it demonstrated something powerful: the ability to seamlessly convert speech to text within familiar applications like Microsoft Office. The hackathon judges were impressed, but more importantly, the developers themselves couldn't stop using it. Multilingual support was added early on.
